Publix Coupon Policy FAQs

By now you should have heard that Publix has a new coupon policy. Be sure to check with your local store to see who they consider a competitor.

FAQs:

A competitor has a "Buy one get two free" coupon. Will Publix accept it?
Publix accepts BOGO and Buy one get Two free coupons if they are for identical merchandise that Publix sells.

If a customer has a BOGO or free coupon for a non-random weight item, what value will be deducted from the order?
The highest value the item rang up for in the order should be deducted. Please note: most, if not ALL, coupons with a free item have a MAXIMUM value. If the price of the item exceeds the maximum value for the free coupon, the customer will pay the difference.

Will Publix accept a competitor's coupon for a random-weight product, such as a "buy one get two free" coupon for pork chops?
Yes. Publix will accept this coupon if we sell a product with an IDENTICAL description. For example, if there is a coupon for "Center Cut pork chops, bone-in" and we sell "center cut pork chops, bone-in" we will accept this coupon. Because this is a random weight item, Publix will deduct the least expensive item (lower weight) items from the order.

Does Publix accept coupons from warehouse clubs, such as BJ's, that are labeled as "Manufacturer In-Club coupon"?
No. Since the items the warehouse clubs sells aren't identical to those Publix sells, we don't accept manufacturer in-club coupons.

What should the acceptance criteria be for a coupon that states $40.00 purchase must be met after all other coupons/discounts have been applied. Not valid on purchases of stamps, gift cards, alcohol or tobacco products.
Our policy states that coupon acceptance is subject to any restrictions on the coupon; in this case we'd use the more restrictive limitations printed on the coupon.

A competitor on a store's approved list is offering $5 off a $25 order when a customer signs up to receive communications from them. Will Publix accept this coupon?
Yes. Since they have already signed up with the competitor to receive this coupon, the only requirement left to comply with is purchasing $25 worth of groceries.

Will Publix accept a competitor's coupon that indicates the customer must present their retailer rewards card to use the coupon?
Yes. Publix does not have rewards card but would honor this coupon if they meet the other purchase requirements.

Will Publix accept computer-generated/self-printed $5 off competitor coupons?
Yes

Will Publix accept a competitor's coupon for a FREE $5 gift card, with the purchase of $25 in product?
Yes. Publix will issue a $5 gift card, and this counts as the one dollar-off-total-order competitor coupon allowed in the order.

A coupon is good for UP TO $2 but the item only costs $1.75. How much is the coupon worth?
The coupon will be redeemed for $1.75, since the value of the coupon is for UP TO a certain amount. The register will prompt the cashier to enter the actual price of the item.

What if the combined value of a manufacturer's coupon plus a Publix or competitor coupon is granger than the price of the single item?
If the combined value of the coupons is greater than the item's value, the customer WILL RECEIVE CASH BACK, or the difference will be applied to the order.

Will Publix honor the full value of a competitor's coupon even if the value is greater than the item's price? Or does it just apply to manufacturer's coupons?
Publix will honor coupons for the FULL VALUE of MANUFACTURER'S, PUBLIX, OR COMPETITOR COUPONS.

Can a store coupon, competitor coupon and a manufacturer's coupon all be used for one item?
No, a manufacturer's and a Publix OR a competitor coupon, but not both, may be used.

If an item already has a manufacturer's coupon attached to it, will Publix still take an additional manufacturer's coupon on the item?
No. Publix will take an additional Publix coupon but will ONLY take one manufacturer's coupon for an item, regardless of where the coupon came from.

A customer has a "Save $1 off the purchase of 2 items" manufacturer's coupon. Can another manufacturer's coupon be used for either of the items?
No. When the manufacturer issues a "$1 off the purchase of 2 items" coupon, it requires the purchase of two items. Therefore, a coupon has already been applied to both items. This is because the customer had to purchase BOTH items to meet the coupon's requirements.

A customer has a BOGO manufacturer's coupon. Can another manufacturer's item be used for either of these items?
No. When the manufacturer issues a BOGO coupon, it requires the purchase of two items. Therefore, a coupon has already been applied to both items. This is because the customer has to purchase BOTH items to meet the coupon's requirements.

Will Publix accept a competitor coup[on for a free $5 gift card with the purchase of an item or items, (ex. a coupon for "buy both raid max bug barriers 1 gallon starter kit and refill" and receive a $5 store gift card).
Yes. The customer will receive a $5 gift card if we carry the identical items.

Does Publix accept prescription coupons from all pharmacies or only from our listed competitors?
Publix accepts coupons for prescriptions from all local retail pharmacies.

A customer presents a rain check and a coupon for the item. The coupon is now expired, but it was valid on the date the rain check was issued. Can the coupon still be accepted?
Yes.

Will Publix accept a competitor's coupon for a private label item?
Yes, this is an opportunity for us to introduce our customer to Publix brand products.
